Our Brief History
Madonna International Day Secondary School
Madonna Day Secondary School, Phase III Gwagwalada, Abuja, has a rich history that began on September 7, 2015. The school’s inception witnessed the enrolment of approximately fourteen students, with nine dedicated candidates emerging as the pioneering group—comprising four boys and five girls under the leadership of the pioneer principal, Rev. Sister Felicia Anukanti (HHCJ).
Madonna Day Secondary School is proudly owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja and administered by the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ). The school was established to seamlessly continue the educational journey of pupils transitioning from primary to secondary school.
Embracing a mission to provide holistic education to students, regardless of gender, race, colour, or religion, Madonna Day Secondary School has been steadfast in nurturing the intellectual and spiritual growth of its pupils.
The torch of leadership was passed from Rev. Sister Felicia Anukanti to the current principal, Rev. Sister Jovita Ewurugine (HHCJ), on January 9, 2020. Since then, the school has flourished both spiritually and academically, excelling in sports, external competitions, and national examinations such as WAEC/NECO and BECE—all to the glory of God.
Madonna Day Secondary School is a coeducational institution, fostering an inclusive environment where every child is recognized as unique and significant. The school’s commitment lies in extracting the best from each child under its care, ensuring a nurturing and empowering educational experience.
